The Benefits of Strut Cards in your Cafe

Strut cards are small but powerful pieces of print advertising that have numerous benefits for all kinds of businesses. Placed on counter tops or tables, strut cards are freestanding pieces of advertising that can be used to display a wide variety of different messages or advertisements. You might want to advertise any one of the following for instance;

  • An event you are holding at your cafe
  • An award that your cafe might have won
  • Any option that may be a special that you offers
  • A particular deal that you have on
  • Some words from previous customers

Some of the benefits of this fantastic form of advertising are that;

They’re small

Space is at a premium in cafés, bars and food establishments. As a café owner it’s your job to be able to fit as many paying customers into one space without compromising the overall experience. As well as taking up space where you might wish to place a paying customer, large and bulky advertising can impede the experience of customers in other ways too. Larger advertising such as advertising boards for example might restrict movement around your café. Larger advertising such as this might even be potentially dangerous as it can be a potential trip hazard.

Advertising that is small but effective is therefore the perfect combination for these types of establishment. Strut cards work perfectly for this purpose. Small and compact, strut cards do not take up any valuable space in your café.

They’re effective

Just because they are small by no means they are any less effective. While a larger form of advertising may grab attention, smaller advertising has the advantage of placement. Placed on as many tables in your cafe as you desire, you can help ensure that your strut cards are read by every single one of your customers.

They are freestanding

In spite of being small in stature, they can still pack a punch when it comes to visibility. Because they are freestanding, they are also easily seen from a distance. When entering your cafe for example your strut cards can immediately grab the attention of your customers. The combination of strut cards on each of your tables can also help to increase the overall impact. Once your customers sit down therefore they have already been acquainted with your strut cards. If you simply left leaflets on each of the tables on the other hand, it may be deemed as unnecessary clutter. This simple difference is simultaneously a very important one in the eyes of your customers.

They are engaging

Strut cards are ideal if you want your customers to engage with your advertising. As your customers are waiting for their food and drink this is the perfect opportunity to draw their attention to what you have to offer. If your strut cards are placed on each individual table then your customers have the opportunity to pick them up and read them at their own leisure.

They offer creative possibilities

As strut cards are designed to be engaged with, there are plenty of opportunities to get creative. You might want to add a section that can be coloured or drawn on for families with children. Alternatively you could offer an interactive game that can be accessed via the camera screen of your customers. Whatever it is, there are plenty of creative ideas you can come up with to get your customers engaging with your strut cards.

At Kaizen Print we have helped numerous clients create stunning strut cards for their bars, cafés and restaurants. If you’d like to find out more about how your cafe could benefit from using strut cards, don’t hesitate to get in touch. You can start by visiting our strut cards page, or by getting in touch via our contact form.

Saving your artwork for print, correctly

Outdoor Event Leaflet Printing Dublin | Kaizen Print Ireland

For the uninitiated, designing for print can feel like a daunting task. While designing for online is perhaps a little simpler for the amateur designer or marketer, print can feel like a different kettle of fish altogether. Here’s our guide to ensuring that your design is good to go.

Save as a high quality PDF

When saving your work you’ll want to ensure that you save it as a high quality PDF. This is the best file format to ensure that your design can be printed. Other file formats such as JPG or PNG are great for online use, but there are compatibility issues when it comes to printing.

Use high resolution images

When designing your print product, you should ensure that you use high resolution images. This will inevitably bump up the file size of your design. This can take up space on your hard drive, however it is imperative to the final quality of your print. It is important to be aware during the design process that the final results may look very different to the design on your computer screen. The images and colours that you choose for your design using your design software can vary dramatically when it comes to the print. This is why it is always best to ensure you use high resolution images. For best results we recommend that all designs are sent over to us in 300 dpi (or dots per inch).

Include crop marks and bleeds in all of your designs

Getting a perfect print finish is difficult if you are attempting to do so without the addition of bleeds. In design terminology a bleed essentially means the space that needs to be left between the edge of your print and what is called the bleed line. By incorporating bleeds into your design you give your print room for imperfections to happen during the print job.

Reducing any movement whatsoever during the printing process is nigh-on-impossible. By adding a bleed line you can trim down the print to the finished size and get exactly the results you are looking for. The bleed line should be placed between 2-5mm from the edge of your print and indicated through the use of crop marks.

Proof your work (repeatedly)

Unlike online where amends can usually be made once a design has been published, in print, mistakes can prove costly to put right. Everyone makes mistakes, so it is important that you have a thorough proofing process in place before sending your artwork across. Make sure that multiple parties and stakeholders see the design before you send it to print. We each have our own preoccupations when it comes to what we are looking for in a draft design. This can lead to missing sometimes quite obvious errors. Our rule at Kaizen Print is the more eyes the better!

Take advantage of design templates

If you are not a professional designer by trade, then it can be difficult to know whether you have designed your print artwork to all of the required specifications. This can be especially tricky as each printed product requires its own specific layout and has its own specific guidelines to follow. At Kaizen Print we understand the difficulty of ensuring that your designs are print-ready. That’s why we provide a suite of design templates so that you can easily create a design ready for print.

You can find these templates via our design templates page. We have a whole host of design templates for a large number of different print products, including;

  • And many more!

What to look for in a business card printer near you

If you are typing into a search browser “business card printing near me”, then you are probably looking for some key criteria to be met. You’ll be looking for;

  • A printer that you can visit if needs be
  • A printer that you can trust
  • A personal service
  • A printer that get the job done
  • A good price

A high quality service

First and foremost, you shouldn’t sacrifice quality for proximity. Ultimately, the most important thing is that you feel confident that the final result will be up to the required standard.

A personal service

At Kaizen Print we believe in giving a fair price for a great service. We may not be the cheapest printer on the market, but we are undoubtedly one of the best value printing services out there. Our approach is that we would only produce work that we would be willing to use for our own marketing and business purposes. A specialist

At Kaizen Print we have a great deal of expertise when it comes to printing all kinds of work. Business cards however are our bread and butter. We have helped design and print more business cards than any other product. Our extensive experience in delivering exceptional quality business cards make us an ideal choice.

How to ensure you get the best results

There are some basic steps that you can take to ensure that your local business card printer will do a good job;

Do they have an online portfolio of work?

It is always helpful to be able to see previous work that a printer has produced. If you have not worked with a printer before then you are essentially in the dark as to what to expect. Having access to a portfolio of work can help to put your mind at ease that the printer has completed similar jobs previously to a high standard. If the printer does not have an online portfolio, they should be able to provide you with some examples of previous work either via email or in person.

Do they have any online reviews?

While of course any review should always be considered with a pinch of salt, they remain one of the best indicators of real customer experiences. By investigating customer reviews you should be able to start to build up a picture of what you can expect should you choose to work with the printer.

Can you visit them?

Having an online presence is one thing. Being available to talk in person is another. When looking for a printer near you, you’ll want to get the balance right between locality and price, and a professional service. Many large commercial printers may not have time to meet or talk with you in any great depth. Alternatively, many small printers may not have the best print technology, tools or offices available to visit. At Kaizen Print we believe we offer both these things. Industry-leading printing technology and service as well as a friendly local service that you can rely on.

Kaizen Tips on Working From Home

working from home

Working from home has become the new normal in this unique situation we as businesses find ourselves in.

With teams used to being in an office environment, surrounded by their team, switching to a home office can be a huge change and adjustment.

At Kaizen, we are all now working remotely also, and like every other business, we are starting to get into the swing of things as the days pass by.

Here are our top tips on how you can best work from home;

1. Designate a specific work area

Allow yourself a space in your house to use for your work. Have an area where you can zone out and check your emails, do your work and communicate with your colleagues.

2. Do something that isn’t work to start your day

On a normal working day, you don’t wake up and go straight to your desk. Maybe wake up earlier and give yourself time to have a hot drink, read a few pages in your book or have breakfast. Then start your day’s work.

3. Dress for work

Although you might be tempted by the thought of working in your pajamas – it can limit your work productivity. If you get ready for work, you can allow your mind to make the mental shift from home to work.

4. Know the structure of your day

Structure is key to successfully working from home. Set out your working times and stick to those. It can be easy to let those slip when you are not in an office space. Start when you are meant to and stop when you usually would.

5. Be courteous to other members on your team

Working without the ability to speak face to face can be challenging at the best of times, so be patient and understanding to your colleagues while you adjust to working remotely with one another .

6. Take care of yourself

Self isolating and working from home can be testing on every one of us. So look after yourself, take time to wind down after a day’s work and check in with yourself regularly.

7. Take regular breaks

Allow yourself time to step away from your desk or workspace and reset your mind. Even if it’s five minutes to step outside and get some fresh air, it can help you to keep your focus throughout the day.

8. Focus on finishing projects

Is there a project you have been pushing to the bottom of your list? If you have some spare time while working from home, use it to tick a few task off your list.

9. Keep on communicating

Although your team may not be around you, they are still your teammates and colleagues. Stay in constant communication with them throughout the day, the same way you would if you were office based.

10. Use this time to develop your own skills.

This is a hugely challenging time for all and the ability to use it wisely for your personal development is a huge advantage.

Our team are still on hand to help and assist you with every query you may have, be that on print or something business related.

We are very much aware that we are in this together, and so we are here to help if you ever need it.
