Roller Banner Design Tips

We are not long into the New Year.  Time for some new beginnings and some things will just continue.  While things may feel somewhat uncertain at the moment, some things are still certain.  As a business, you will certainly need to continue to get your brand noticed and raise awareness of your brand, product or service.  One way to guarantee your band will be noticed at trade shows or exhibitions this year is an effective roller banner.

Roller banners are a staple of trade shows and exhibitions because they are so big and tall.  However, they are also compact.  Therefore, they are easy to install and transport to the next event.  Roller banners are practical and durable.  In addition, they are highly effective in standing out if done in a striking way.

Roller Banner Design Tips

The roller banner can be commonly referred to in a number of different ways.  They can also be called roll-up banners, pull-up banners, banner displays and retractable banner stands.  It doesn’t matter what you call them.  At the end of the day, roller banners are a vital piece of marketing for generating and raising brand awareness.  Here are some design tips to consider when deciding on your brand’s roller banner.

Make Your Roller Banner Stand Out

Think of an exhibition or trade show.  Generally they are in a massive expanse of a room.  These places are packed with people.  So many eyes are eager to find something to attract them.  In addition, there are almost as many attempts to lure these curious eyes.  No business is there not to be noticed and they are all trying.  Therefore, ensure your brand stands out.  This is not the time to go with the ordinary.  Be bold with your banner design.  Vibrant colours are one sure way to catch a passing eye.  If you have a catchy logo, ensure that it is prominent and easily spotted from far away.

Another important factor often overlooked is the quality of the banner printing.  Tattered and worn marketing materials will not generate positive interest.  Ensure your banner looks fresh and vibrant.  Otherwise you will lose the attention of all those passing eyes.

Use Concise & Relevant Messaging

Sure roller banners can be very large.  However, this is not an invitation to tell the full story of your business on them.  Keep any message on your banner concise and compelling.  In addition, incorporate as many enticing words as possible.  Bold these power words or use a splash of colour to make them pop.  This will immediately grab attention and draw in the curious.  A strong call to action will result in the audience complying.

So be quirky and unique, but be direct with your messaging.  However, do not misrepresent your brand.  Remain true to your brand identity so customers do not get confused.  Confusion will only usher these eyes on to the next, clearer statement.

Fonts & Effects

While the message is important, the way it is presented is also imperative for success.  Your messaging should be clear to read.  Use an easy to read font.  While that obscure font may appeal to your artistic side, it might also have the potential to confuse.  A difficult to read font will not encourage the customer to read on.

Any shapes or effects should complement your brand and your message.  Therefore, do not overwhelm your banner with any shapes, imagery or effects that could distract from your message.  Your roller banner should encourage action, not dissuade it.

Plan out the Trade Show or Exhibition Experience

Plan out your presence at the trade show or exhibition.  Where are the wider walkways that will have the higher foot traffic?  Maybe you will discover you could do with two banners to maximise the space.  Don’t be caught off guard with too much unused space.  Plan accordingly what you require to ensure the event is a success.

Roller Banners vs Exhibition Stands

Roller Banners, Kaizen Print Ireland

When you are at an event representing your company, you want to make a great impression. You need to stand out and grab the eye and attention of all your potential and current customers.

But what is the best way? Well, that depends on a few things. Let’s take a quick look at the differences between Roller Banners and Exhibition Stands

Roller Banners

Roller banners are an upright sign on a stand. They come in a few different sizes and are very versatile and convenient to use. They can be carried about with no effort and set up and taken down within seconds. They are perfect for events where you have limited space.

They are extremely popular and easy to use. Placed out in front of your booth or table, they attract the attention of anyone passing by. These are great for large events, everyday use in your store and can be placed indoors or out. They are inexpensive and you can have more than one made up.

Have them for special events, a new promotion or placed outside of the store to attract attention. They are perfect for indoors, as well. Used to guide customers to sales, particular items or even as partial walls, to break up your space.

Exhibition Stands

These are much larger, yet built the same. They are light printed fabric on a lightweight frame, used as background or full wall coverings. These are perfect for filling your event space with your brand and logo.

Still convenient to use and very easy to transport and set up, these are meant for a background. When you see photos of people at an event with the wall of logs behind, that’s exactly what these are.

Custom made fabric walls look very professional at events, and gives your company an air of success. It fills the space and makes your booth look like an entire office or workspace, depending on your event.

Which is Best?

If cost is a concern, the roller banners are the best bet for you. You can still get a few and keep to your budget.

The media walls are perfect if you have the space to put them up. Even one will really add to your event and push your booth into the polished and professional look.

Of course, using both would be the ultimate method. The banners outside to get the attention and the fabric walls to let your customers you are serious. A combination of both makes sure people see your brand.

The walls are perfect if people are taking pictures. Just like happy shiny celebrities posing with their trophies, people will see your background wall with you or your products every time they look at them.

Both of these are lightweight and easily put up and taken down. This all can be handled by one person. They are easy to maintain and will last a long time. You don’t need to use them just for special events if you have the space to display them.

They look fabulous and professional, are completely custom made to suit you and your business and available in your choice of size. This means you can use your own logo, colours and motto to drive home the message and make sure you stand out and be remembered.

Exhibition Success – Our Top Tips

exhibition stands

Attending an exhibition or trade show should be a real boon for your business. People are already there to buy or price out items for purchase later on. Your job is half done.

You also have a lot of competition. You won’t be the only one there selling a particular product or service. You can, however, stand out. The people in attendance already know what they want. Make them want you.

Create your Plan of Attack

If you are a regular participant, you know you need to start planning around the time the last one ends. Have all aspects of the event covered? Have regular meetings to make sure everything is coming together.

Promotion

Let people know ahead of time you will be there. This includes all social media, flyers, booklets, posters, posts to your website and in and out of the store promotions.

Social media and emails allow you to target your audience. It also means a larger reach, as people love to share this type of information. Use clever or graphics, pictures, text and designs.

Experts Onboard

The staff who will be manning the booth need to be fully knowledgeable in the product, service and the brand. Buyers consider themselves experts, so if they have a question, you need to have an answer.

They need to be friendly, approachable and open to whatever comes their way. It can be a long, stressful day, so your team need to be ready to take on whatever gets tossed their way. It’s a good idea to have people rotate, to keep it all fresh and on their toes.

Dress The Part

Staff should be wearing something with your brand. Colours, logos, mottos and uniforms, if needed. It’s also necessary to dress the booth.

Media Wall Printing - Exhibition Stand

A table skirt or wrap around banner will grab the customers attention. The wall behind needs a fabric media wall with your brand on it. People are walking around looking for specific items. It’s crowded and you need to stand out. Grab their attention fast.

A large standing poster, like a roller banner or feather flag out front, is also a great way to grab attention. They can be printed to suit your brand, promote a new product or just have your name. They are very effective in getting attention.

Have your business card, a flyer or brochure for people to take with all your information. Again, you can use your regular ones or if you have a new promotion, use that.

Provide Freebies

Obviously, if you are selling big ticket items, like computers, you can’t give those away. But accessories are a great idea. Giveaway items like pens, notepads, key fobs, fridge magnets, bottle openers, the list are endless. These items are a great way to send your name home with people.

Even if people don’t use the item, they will give it on to someone else. There is no telling who will see your brand.

These are a great opportunity to showcase your company, so you want to make the most of it. Please contact us here for any flyers, business cards, table card or any other of our products that help sell yours.

Our exhibition stands demand attention

We’re asked regularly to provide advice on how to best market businesses at exhibitions and events. These super competitive marketplaces have a captured audience, which on one hand is great. However hundreds of other businesses competing for the same business in an enclosed premises. Overall we need to step up our marketing if we want to sell our products or services. Obviously we’ll take somewhat about exhibition stands, but beyond this we need to think outside the box when it comes to our own efforts.

exhibition stands

With the majority of events providing a dedicated space for your business, it’s up to us to take ownership of that area. Utilising all available opportunities to engage prospects and to guide them to you is paramount. In an event with both plenty of customers and suppliers this can be a challenge. With this in mind, we’ve given our top tips to engage and convert customers to a sale.

  1. Dressing your area – this might sound like a basic action, but it’s often overlooked. In a standard 3m square exhibition area, we always recommend setting an exhibition stand as a back drop. These fit perfectly in the back of your area and frame the picture of what your potential customer sees.
  2. Create an engaging back drop on your exhibition stand – Remember these stands are to be viewed from afar. Create striking designs that will engage customers, but do not get bogged in the specific details of your products. Let your sales team interact with customers and do their job….selling.
  3. Provide giveaways – I don’t mean everyone should leave with a pen or a gift. A simple company brochure or leaflet will suffice. Make sure that everyone who visits your stand leaves with a take away item. They’re more likely to remember you and your company.
  4. Take Data (GDPR Compliant Data) – In recent times, many of us collected business cards in the same manner my friend Chris collects Pokemon (flat out). However with the advent of GDPR compliance, businesses need to be mindful of how data is collected, stored and used. You should always collecting data in a manner you can reuse, but doing so in a GDPR compliant manner.
  5. Let the sales team sell – I’ve been at many exhibitions and events where the sales team are bogged down with inane enquiries. Time wasters we call them. To over come this we always suggest some sort of pre-qualification of anyone looking to speak to the sales team. Using a gate-keeper sounds counterintuitive at a trade show. However by directing the right leads to the right people we can optimise our sales efficiency.

Media walls – the daddy of exhibition stands

We recommend a specific type of exhibition stand for clients. Media Walls or Fabric Banner Stands are different from traditional exhibition stands. Instead of multiple panels, a single fabric graphic is stretched over the media wall frame. This allows us to set up the stand quickly and easily. We can change the graphics also which allows us to use this stands for multiple campaigns with no major financial outlay.

Benefits of Media Walls

  • 2 minute set up – honestly you’ll be amazed by the speed at which you can put up a media wall
  • Single person set up – unlike traditional exhibition stands, 1 person can put a media wall up without assistance
  • Lightweight – at less that 9kg, it’s transportable and easy to manage
  • Replaceable graphic – one of the biggest benefits is its ability to change graphic.
  • Single panel graphic – no more breaks in the graphic or mis-aligned panels
